And now for something completely different.

The Flying Proms at The Shuttleworth Collection celebrates 22 years of the museum. It will bring all the atmosphere and fun of a truly British Proms and the excitement of vintage aircraft displaying to live music from the National Symphony orchestra.

6 themed hangars containing WW1, WW2, Clayton and Shuttleworth, Leading Edge, Transport Pioneers and Flying High displays will be open as well as the Engineering Workshop. For something more peaceful, take a stroll around the Swiss Garden - this is a relaxing retreat in which new vistas are revealed at every turn., with 13 listed structures, an adjacent woodland sculpture trail and resident peacock. The House is open to visitors with tea & cake on offer to purchase, travel up on a free vintage bus. The finale is a thrilling firework display.

We have a late start from North Harbour so have a good brunch before leaving home. Bring your own picnic to enjoy during the the flying display or purchase food and drink at the on-site catering facilities.

See ‘www.shuttleworth.org’ for full details of the museum.

We have to advertise this event early as it sells out every year and coach parking is normally restricted.
